  2. 'Connolly is every defender's nightmare'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 31 August

    FT: Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

    Paddy McLaughlin
    Sportsound summariser

Dylan Connolly is every defender's nightmare. He caused havoc for 20 minutes and forced Cliftonville to change their shape. Throughout the game he was the standout performance, but there were lots of good performances, especially defensively.

Jordan Jenkins goal, if you saw it on Match of the Day, you would think it was a strike of a £20 million player! You have to see it to appreciate how good it is.

  3. 'Everything from Cliftonville was slow'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 31 August

    FT: Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

    Colin Coates
Ballymena United defender and former Crusaders captain

I thought everything was a bit slow for Cliftonville, whereas Glentoran, there was energy all over the pitch and they looked hungry to get a result today.

Cliftonville are in a tricky position, the players that have left were outstanding players and they do have issues up the top end of the pitch compared to last year.

They still have Rory Hale to come back, but the window is shut and they have to make do with what they have and I'm sure Jim Magilton and Gerard Lyttle will have conversations about how best to maximise the squad.

  4. 'Much better second half from Crusaders'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 31 August

    FT: Crusaders 2-1 Carrick Rangers

    Darren Murphy
    Sportsound summariser

It was a much better second half from Crusaders and Declan Caddell will be well pleased. They put Carrick under a lot more pressure than they did in the first half and they got their two goals.

  5. 'Glentoran thoroughly deserved winners'published at 17:01 British Summer Time 31 August

    FT: Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

    Colin Coates
Ballymena United defender and former Crusaders captain

On the whole here today Glentoran were very impressive, a really good balance in their team between youth and experience and people playing in their natural positions look good.

Thoroughly deserved winners and for Cliftonville, it's back to the drawing board.

The final whistle blows, and the roar around the Oval could be heard all around east Belfast!

Jordan Jenkins' stunning first-half volley proves to be the difference, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory for the home side.

It's a first win at the Oval this season for the Glens, and it's no less than Declan Devine's men deserve.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 31 August

    Loughgall 0-2 Dungannon Swifts

Substitute Adam Towe becomes the sixth Loughgall player to be booked, immediately followed by number seven as Jamie Rea is shown a yellow card.

  12. Postpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

    Colin Coates
Ballymena United defender and former Crusaders captain

A win today for Glentoran would be massive in terms of confidence and what it does for them going into their next five games. It gives them a bit of belief and gets the Glentoran faithful on their side.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 31 August

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

The fourth official's board goes up, and it's a tense moment for both sets of fans.

    Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

    Colin Coates
Ballymena United defender and former Crusaders captain

Make no mistake, Fuad Sule is the best defensive midfielder in the league for me.

The way he just protects his back four and as a centre-back watching he'd be a dream to have in front of you, he does most of their work for them.

  17. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 31 August

    Crusaders 2-1 Carrick Rangers

Paul Heatley's free-kick drops to Carrick sub Ronan Kalla, but he shoots over.

Can Carrick fashion another opening as we move into six minutes of stoppage time?

  18. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 31 August

    Loughgall 0-2 Dungannon Swifts

Thomas Maguire, one of a number of subs introduced after half-time, thinks he has made it 3-0 to Dungannon Swifts but his low left foot effort cannons off the base of a post and away to safety.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 31 August

    Crusaders 2-1 Carrick Rangers

Both of the aforementioned injured players limp off rather groggily, with Jordan Owens replacing Jordan Forsythe for Crusaders.

Ronan Kalla places Seanan Clucas for Carrick, who also bring on striker Emmett McGuckin for defender Luke McCullough.

  20. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glentoran 1-0 Cliftonville

Glentoran squander a huge opportunity to put the game to bed!

Jay Donnelly and David Fisher break free on the counter, but Donnelly's through ball for Fisher is overhit as the frontman attempts to run in behind, allowing David Odumosu to gather.
