  1. See you at the Solheim Cuppublished at 22:10 British Summer Time 1 September

And that's it for men's golf on the PGA Tour this season.

It's been a wonderful year for Scottie Scheffler - check out Peter Scrivener's report to see how he rounded it off in the perfect way.

But we're not done yet with golf in 2024.

From Friday, 13 to Sunday 15 September we're at the Solheim Cup as Team Europe head to Virginia to face the US, seeking to retain the trophy that they regained in 2019 and have kept ever since.

You won't want to miss it.

    Until then.

    Scheffler -30 (67)

Interestingly, Scottie Scheffler didn't shoot the best score of this week.

That honour belongs to Collin Morikawa who finished 22 under, and in second was Sahith Theegala at 21 under.

However, when the -10 starting point he earned for his ridiculous season was factored in, -20 was enough to win by four shots.

  4. Scheffler joins the starspublished at 22:02 British Summer Time 1 September

Courtesy of golf guru Justin Ray on X, external, this is the list of players with seven-plus wins on the PGA Tour, including a major, in a single year since 1980.

    • 1980 Tom Watson
    • 1999 Tiger Woods
    • 2000 Tiger Woods
    • 2004 Vijay Singh
    • 2006 Tiger Woods
    • 2007 Tiger Woods

    Illustrious company for Scottie Scheffler.

  5. What a seasonpublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 1 September

    Seven PGA Tour wins.

    Four signature events.

A Green Jacket at The Masters.

    Gold at the Olympics.

    And now the Tour Championship.

He's picked up more than $60m in prize money alone this year.

Oh and he became a dad and got arrested.

2024 has been quite the year for Scottie Scheffler.

    Scheffler -30 (67)

Scottie Scheffler is joined on the 18th green by his wife Meredith and five-month old son Bennett, lifting him into the sky to shouts of acclaim from the crowd.

And the little baby breaks into tears - it's all a bit overwhelming!

  7. Scheffler wins Tour Championshippublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 1 September

    Scheffler -30 (67)

    In it goes.

Scottie Scheffler makes par on 18, he embraces his caddie and finally allows himself a smile after plotting a superb final 10 holes to clinch the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup.

Up go the arms and roars emanate around the 18th green.

The world number one is untouchable.

    Now for the $25m putt...

  9. Morikawa finishes secondpublished at 21:53 British Summer Time 1 September

    Morikawa -26 (66)

A closing par for Collin Morikawa who has had an outstanding year.

Third at the Masters, fourth at the PGA, second at Memorial, fourth at the Scottish Open, second here.

The main problem he’s faced? Just not being quite as good as Scottie Scheffler.

No wins on his card but plenty of encouragement heading into 2025.

  10. Postpublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 1 September

    Scheffler -30, Morikawa -26 (17)

And here come Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa approaching the 18th green - a procession for the world number one.

He's left himself 43 feet for birdie - and avoiding a triple bogey here will be enough to secure the title.

  11. Birdie for Theegala to finishpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 1 September

    Theegala -24 (64)

As for playing partner Sahith Theegala, he's showed his delightful touch as well, sinking a 24 footer of his own to make a final birdie.

He'll finish in third place to cap a breakthrough season.

Could be one to watch in 2025.

  12. Schauffele finishes in stylepublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 1 September

    Schauffele -19 (68)

We've said very little about Xander Schauffele this evening as he's been out of the mix.

However, he's just rounded off an unbelievable 2024 season with a brilliant finish, putting in from 37 feet for birdie.

Stunning from the double Major winner.

  13. Postpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 1 September

We've had some looong golf shifts this season so it's quite fitting that these players have romped round in under four hours this evening.

Maybe it helps that some of the usual guilty parties are not in contention. Mentioning no names...

With one hole to go, I could be tucked up in bed with a cup of cocoa (insert appropriate beverage here) by 10pm.

    Scheffler -30, Morikawa -26 (17)

One last drive of the 2024 season for Scottie Scheffler - and he's found the rough.

    That was unexpected.

  15. A stroll for Scottiepublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 1 September

This has turned into a bit of a stroll to victory for Scottie Scheffler. It was looking close on the eighth hole after that shank out of a greenside bunker allowed Collin Morikawa to get within two.

I thought we were going to be in for a back-nine shootout a bit like happened on my golf society singles competition yesterday.

Wil and Dan were vying for the title of Albion's champion golfer of the year around the turn and they battled all the way to the 16th when Wil finally asserted his dominance to take the title.

Congrats to him, although he now has the dubious honour of organising next year's trip!

  16. Morikawa birdies 17published at 21:37 British Summer Time 1 September

    Scheffler -30, Morikawa -26 (17)

We cut to a shot of Scottie Scheffler and, obviously, he's eyeing a birdie putt.

He's left it short from 17 feet but a comfortable par will carry him onto the 18th green.

Gutsy from Collin Morikawa as he drains another birdie.

After bogeying the first hole, that's his sixth birdie of an outstanding round today.

  17. Scott finishes fourthpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 1 September

Australia's Adam Scott has just closed up his 2024 season with an excellent round of 67 to finish in a share of fourth at -19.

It's been a wonderful finish to the season for the 2013 Masters champion and he'll take home a handsome pay cheque for his efforts.

  18. What's the record score?published at 21:34 British Summer Time 1 September

    Tiger WoodsImage source, Getty Images

If you're wondering why the scoring is so low - Scottie Scheffler at -30 - it's worth remembering he started the tournament at -10 on Thursday due to the format of the Tour Championship.

So he's really on -20 for the four days, which, I suppose, ain't too bad going!

Since switching to this format in 2019, Viktor Hovland's -27 in 2023 was the best score to par. That's about to go.

But it's Tiger Woods, who else, who holds the Tour Championship record, shooting -23 in 2007 from a par start.

Scheffler needed to reach -33 this week to tie that, and he's going to fall short.

  19. Theegala closes in on Morikawapublished at 21:28 British Summer Time 1 September

    Theegala -23 (17)

    Sahith TheegalaImage source, Getty Images

Aggressive second shot from Sahith Theegala at 17 reaps the reward and he can eye up 11 feet to eke into Collin Morikawa's three-shot advantage in second.

    Buried. He's six under today.

However, with one to play, you wonder if he'll just run out of holes to overhaul compatriot Morikawa.

  20. Pars for top twopublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 1 September

    Scheffler -30, Morikawa -25 (16)

Lengthy birdie putts for Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa after plotting their way down 16.

Both skirt by the hole but can safely tuck in for par - and Scheffler can safely tick off another hole.

    Two to go.
