Tensions are running high over the government's failure to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas.

The protests come after six hostages taken by Hamas on the 7 October attacks were found dead in Gaza.

It is thought 103 hostages remain unaccounted for after the 7 October attacks.

Israeli forces say they killed the head of Hamas in Jenin and two others in an overnight operation.

It will be rolled out in three separate stages across the central, southern and northern parts of the strip.

Kaid Farhan Elkadi was freed in a "complex operation" in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military says.

An official says staff cannot operate in central areas because of relocations and safety concerns.
